ADAConsultant.org is governed by a small founding board during its inaugural year. Member elections phase in starting year two, moving toward full elected governance with regional representation by year three.
Founding Board (Year 1)
Marcus Reed
Executive Director
Marcus is a registered architect and 22-year accessibility consultant who has led physical-compliance audits on more than 600 commercial properties across six states. He founded ADAConsultant.org to give independent practitioners the professional infrastructure he spent two decades without.
Lena Okafor
Founding Advisor — Advocacy & Standards
Lena is a disability-rights advocate and former regional civil-rights liaison. She has served on three state-level accessibility advisory boards and chairs ADAConsultant.org's Standards & Advocacy committee — the group that keeps the CIAC curriculum aligned with DOJ guidance and lived experience.
Henry Whitmore
Founding Advisor — Practitioner Voice
Henry has run an independent ADA consulting practice for 20 years, specializing in hospitality and healthcare. As a longtime wheelchair user and a working practitioner, he ensures ADAConsultant.org stays grounded in the day-to-day realities of running a solo or small-firm accessibility practice.
Priya Chandrasekar, JD
Legal & Compliance Advisor
Priya is an employment-and-compliance attorney who has litigated Title I and Title III matters for a decade. She reviews ADAConsultant.org's code of ethics, the published scope-of-practice statement, and the grievance-and-appeals framework for legal defensibility.
Daniel Cross
ADA Subject Matter Expert
Daniel spent 14 years at the U.S. Access Board working on technical assistance and standards interpretation. He chairs ADAConsultant.org's curriculum committee and is responsible for approving every CE course offered through the association.
Elected Governance (Year 2+)
- Two member-elected seats per year, on staggered two-year terms, beginning once ADAConsultant.org reaches 50 active CIAC members.
- Regional representative seats (West, Mountain, Midwest, South, Northeast) phase in once membership reaches 200 active CIACs.
- Annual member survey on curriculum, CE priorities, and enforcement standards.
- Published board meeting minutes, with member-only sessions excerpted.
Transparency
Each year ADAConsultant.org publishes:
- Financial summary — revenue by category, major expense categories, reserves
- Member count by tier (Associate, CIAC Member, CIAC+ Fellow, Firm)
- Complaint-process activity — anonymized case counts and outcomes
- CE program statistics — courses offered, credits awarded, completion rates
